My Magic Box

In Room 5 we have been working on poems so we worked on a poem called the Magic box by Kit Wright. Everyone in Room 5 made their own and in them we put anything that could not really fit in a magic box. Here is my one, hope you like it.

My Magic Box
I will put in the box
the clanging of a colossal dragon's claws against a knight’s cold, clean armour,
The foul stench of a burning shark in the ocean,
the shine of the moon upon a newly born angler fish.

I will put in the box
the roar of a rare raptor on a rageful hunt,
the taste of the salty sea wave on a scorching day,
a tooth of an ancient ornithomimus, biting a gator.

I will put in the box
the eering screech of a bald eagle on a morning flight,
the smell of a hot dog hidden inside a pickle,
a minnow in a flying washing machine.

I will put in the box
a fleshy hand from an old preserved caveman,
the sound of a jaguar growling at another jaguar in its territory,
the sound of a noodle playing a trumpet on a spoon.

I will put in the box
the flame of an old European dragon,
a sneaky spider that has a spooky skull on its spinneret,
the taste of very hot plastic that burns heaps of plastic.

I will put in the box
the spicy smell of the fog from Mercury,
a spell that makes you like veggies,
the sound of a balloon popping under immense heat.

My Spelling Screencastify

In Room 5 we have been doing spelling every morning. This weeks assignment for my group, Betelgeuse was to work on the spelling of J words. First we made a Google drawing about one of the rules then we made a screenwriting about it. Everybody did their own and here is my one, hope you enjoy it.

My Alone Poem

In Room 5 we were working on writing poems and learning about them, so we read a poem from Gregory Harrison called "Alone in the Grange." After we read his poem, we wrote our own, we even got to choose the character and setting! Everybody in the class wrote their own and here is mine. Hope you enjoy the video at the end.

Granite

Scary,
Scary,
Is the fearless wolf,
Who prowls the grasslands for food.

Fast,
Fast,
Is the wolf as he rushes past all his surroundings,
Whose vision makes rocks, trees and grass vanish in a flash.

Fierce,
Fierce,
Are the wolf's long white teeth,
Which pierce his unlucky catches.

Feared,
Feared,
Is the wolf by all the animals,
Which wait for his next strike.

They say that he hides in the shadows,
As the bats screech and flutter.
The animals know to stay away,
Because he is known to kill all his prey.
They call him a beast,
A big hairy monster.
Is he a fearless young wolf as everybody thinks?
Or is he a lonely grey wolf who is always hungry.

My math report

In maths we have been working on 3D solid shapes. After we learned about them a little, we made a screencastify  about one of them. We each made our own and here is me describing my shape, a cylinder.

How to solve your problems with Miro and Jackson

When Harold came to Awahono School he taught Room 5 about being making the problem bigger or smaller. When we got back to the classroom we had a talk about what Harold said. After we did that Room 5 paired up with a year five child with a year four child to do a screencastify together. My buddy was Jackson and here is our video.

Name Art

In term one Room 5 was learning how to do good patterns. First we wrote our names in bubble lettering then we coloured them in, then we drew patterns all around the letters with vivid. Every pattern that we did had to at least have two elements. We all did our own and here is my one, hope you enjoy it.

I am...

Room Five has been working on poems in term 2. First I had a brainstorm on a piece of paper of the things close to me then I wrote them in this poem. I hope you like it.
I Am
I am the brother who likes to grow my hair long.
I am the son who loves to help bake things with my Mum.
I am the vegetarian who hates all meat.
I am the chicken feeder who makes sure the chickens have enough food.
I am the fisher who likes letting my catches go after I catch them.
I am the animal lover who loves almost all the animals I meet.
I am the reader who spends a lot of time in the library when I can.
I am the helper who does heaps of chores at home.
I am the runner who jogs around at my house

I am Miro.
